Veca Lucia was introduced in 1997 by renowned San Francisco Bay Area dahlia hybridizer Lou Paradise. Officially classified as a Light Blend, this variety is recognized for its large informal decorative blooms and distinctive combination of lavender, white, and deeper purple tones.

Veca Lucia has also established an impressive reputation on the show bench. It has earned recognition in Dahlia Society of California competitions, including being named Best B bloom at the society's 2022 show.

Its unusual twisting petals, picotee coloring, and impressive bloom size have helped Veca Lucia remain a sought-after variety decades after its introduction.
